Miami boy killed, mother and brother injured in pedestrian accident
Dagoberto Trevino, 25, of Miami, hit a woman and her two boys while they were crossing Southwest 268th Street and 137th Avenue on Tuesday night.
Trevino was driving a 1990s Crown Victoria when he hit Donelle Griffin, 42, and her sons Jaheim Haddo, 8, and Ameer Blair, 7. Blair was pronounced dead at the scene, and Griffin and Haddo were both injured. According to police, they were not crossing the street using the crosswalk.
Trevino was not arrested because he was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol, and had followed traffic laws at the time of the accident. Trevino spoke out the following day, stating, “I’m sorry. I hope you can find it in your hearts to forgive me, but I’m not a bad person. I’m a father of an 8-year-old.”
