A motorcycle accident in Sarasota has left the motorcyclist with serious injuries after a minivan hit him on U.S. 41 Sunday afternoon. The 71 year-old driver of the van says he did not see the motorcyclist as he made a left-hand turn.
The van hit the right side of the motorcycle, causing the rider to be ejected from the bike. He was taken to Blake Medical Center with serious injuries. Florida Highway Patrol says he was not wearing a helmet.
The driver of the van was not hurt and has been cited for turning left in front of approaching traffic.
